Ustad Zafar Ali Khan was a vocalist and composer represented the 28th generation of the Gwalior gharana. He was received vocal training from the age of 6 by his father Ustad Qudrat Ali Khan. He sings khayal, thumri, dadra, ghazal, geet and kaafi, also was well-versed in the tabla and harmonium.
His forefathers settled in Sindh, blending their centuries old tradition of tappa and khayal with the indigenous Sindhi kafi, featuring unparalleled taan and tayyari.
Zafar Ali Khan sings kheyal, thumri and ghazal and has engaged himself in music compositions as well.
