Late Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan, was born in Amritsar in 1928. His father Bhai Lal Mohammad belonged to the Gwalior-Kapurthala gharana. Ghulam Hassan Shaggan, along with his father and family, moved to Pakistan in 1947 and settled in Lahore. He has received several titles and awards, among them, the Pride of Performance in 1988 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2000. Ghulam Hassan Shaggan has performed and received recognition all over the world.
